The mood in Castlerea Boxing club is a celebratory one this weekend writes Matthew Towey.
The O’Rourke sisters delivered a gold medal apiece at the National Elite boxing Championships, at the National Stadium in Dublin.
Lisa and Aoife were both victorious in their respective finals against opposition from Portlaoise/Defence Force and Castlebar.
Lisa secured gold in the 70 kg defeating Tiffany O’Reilly from Portlaoise/Defence Forces. The inter-county footballer won by unanimous decision. Adding another national title to the European U23 gold medal she claimed last month.
Two time Olympian Aoife, who was defending the title she won last year was also victorious by unanimous decision.
Aoife, claimed the title in the 75kg category beating Bethany Doocey of Castlebar.
