Elphin booked a place in the Connacht intermediate football final with a two point win over Sligo’s Eastern Harps.
Elphin got off to a flying start, Shane Killoran opening the scoring from play inside the first minute writes Matthew Towey.
Eastern Harps responded, before Elphin scored two points in as many minutes, with points from Aaron Brady and Gerry Cregg.
Eastern Harps drew level on 17 minutes before Johny Finnerty, restored the Roscommon champions lead. Ending a 14 minute scoring drought for Elphin.
Within two minutes Eastern Harps had drawn level. However, Aaron Brady got Elphin’s final score of the half, converting a 45, before Eastern Harps added two points.
At half-time, the Sligo champions had a one point lead. Eastern Harps leading six points to five.
Fintan Cregg drew Elphin level a minute after the restart, converting a free. However, Eastern Harps restored their lead again on 34 minutes. Another Fintan Cregg free, three minutes later had the side’s level.
14 minuts without a score
After 14 minutes without a score, Damien Cregg put Elphin into the lead with a point from play. Two minutes later up stepped Shane Killoran, scoring what would be the last and deciding score of the contest.
The remaining seven minutes of normal time plus the three additional minutes, were tense and hard fought with Elphin holding on in the end to reach the provincial decider. Elphin winning out nine points to seven.
The Roscommon champions will now face Crossmolina Deel Rovers, next weekend to see who shall be crowed Connacht intermediate football champions.

Elsewhere St. Barry's bowed out of the Connacht junior chamionship after a 2-16 to nine point defeat to Ballymote.
