Derek Fahy was appointed chairperson of Longford county board as Albert Cooney’s five-year term came to a conclusion.
The Longford GAA Convention took place in Lanesborough Parish Hall, hosted by the Rathcline club.
Whereas, Michael Mulleady won a three-way battle to take the position of vice-chair with 44 of 80 votes. Outgoing chairperson Cooney took 22 votes and Damian Edgeworth took 14 votes.
Other contests saw Eamonn Brennan and Gerry Forde elected as Leinster council representatives. However, Gerry Hagan surprisingly lost his position as GAA Congress representative.
