Fenagh St. Cailins boss Joe McCormack was brimming with pride as his side booked a Leitrim SFC semi-final place.
Fenagh came through their quarter-final, brushing Leitrim Gaels aside 1-22 to 2-3. Fenagh led 1-12 to 1-1 at half-time.
“Definitely yeah” brimmed McCormack when asked if the victory had met his standards.
“An overall team performance I would be very happy with, right from one to 15” declared McCormack. “The boys that came off the bench gave us another lift” added the Fenagh boss.
“The game had gone flat at that stage and we brought on five subs, and there’s competition for places. It was a comprehensive win, but I’m very happy with that performance”.
Fenagh had finished sixth in the league phase of the Connacht Gold Leitrim SFC. An opening day defeat to Leitrim Gaels was followed up by a draw with Mohill.
“We’re slowly but surely we starting to get players back on the training ground” explained McCormack. The quarter-final victory making it three wins in-a-row.
“We’re starting to fix some of the little problems we were having” added McCormack.
“In the last month to six weeks we’re starting to get everyone back. There’s a great gel in that dressing room, it’s great to be involved”.
Mohill or St. Mary’s Kiltoghert await Fenagh in the semi-finals on the weekend of September 24th.
However, the draw is outstanding after Sunday evening’s meeting of Ballinamore Sean O’Heslin’s and Glencar\Manorhamilton was postponed due to a water logged pitch.
The re-fixed game will take place on Sunday September 17th at 2pm in Avantmoney Pairc Sean MacDiarmada.
