Padraig Pearses’ All-Ireland senior club football final hopes were ended by Kilmacud Crokes as the Dublin champions recorded a 1-11 to 0-8 victory at Kingspan Breffni Park.
Kilmacud led 1-3 to 0-3 at half-time with Craig Dias goal on eight minutes separating the sides while Paul Carey (two) and Niall Daly were on target for the Roscommon champions.
Pearses were impressive during the third quarter and Pat Flanagan’s men reduced the gap to a single point on several occasions.
Niall Daly, Paul Carey and Tom Butler slotted over impressive scores for the men in red, but Kilmacud conjured up a response every time.
Hubert Darcy slotted over another point on 48 minutes leaving the smallest of margins between them before Kilmacud hit five points without reply to run out convincing winners.
Kilmacud will now play Kilcoo in the decider after the Down champions defeated Cork side St. Finbarr’s 1-18 to 1-13 after extra time.
