Leitrim made an explosive start to Lidl ladies national football league division four by beating Derry 5-15 to 1-2 at Aughawillan.
Derry started well and found the net as early as the fifth minute but the visitors didn’t manage a single score during the remainder of the half.
Vivienne Egan registered Leitrim’s first goal on 14 minutes and she added her second goal 14 minutes later as the hosts moved six points clear.
Siomha Quinn stretched the lead to nine points on 27 minutes and Egan followed up with a point as Leitrim led 3-8 to 1-0 at half-time.
The sides traded two points each during the first 16 minutes of the second half but Derry failed to score thereafter.
Four minutes later, Egan slotted over a point and she completed her hat-trick two minutes from time as Leitrim opened up a 20-point gap.
60 seconds later, Leitrim were awarded another penalty and this time Egan found the net as Jonny Garrity’s side finished with 25 points to spare.
