Four Roads bowed out of the Connacht Intermediate Hurling Championship as three goals weren’t enough against Tooreen.
Defending Connacht champions Tooreen, scoring a 2-25 (31) to 3-12 (21) victory in Dr. Hyde Park. Indeed, it looked good for Four Roads as they led by six points at half-time.
However, the Mayo outfit took control over the 14-men in the second-half, scoring 2-17 to 1-4.
Tooreen blasted out of the traps with three points inside the opening 60 seconds. However, Four Roads were unfazed Conor Mulry’s goal seeing them go 1-2 to three points ahead.
It was disaster for the Roscommon side when Conor Morris saw red, even as Tommy Morris fired in another goal as Four Roads led 2-8 to eight points at half-time.
However, Tooreen were a different animal in the second-half and scored 1-10 to Four Roads two points in the first 19 minutes of the second-half.
An Adam Donnelly free found the net, giving Four Roads hope. However, Tooreen responded with three points. Fergal Boland’s late goal sealed the victory and ended Four Roads year.
