Four roads bowed out of the Connacht intermediate hurling championship after a 2-23 to 0-14 defeat to Tooreen in Athleague.
The Roscommon champions of just seven day’s had their resistance broken by two first-half goals. Tooreen led 2-8 to 0-9 at half-time.
Four Roads showed some signs of causing problems in the early stages of this tie. Good scores from Conor Mulry, James Cunniffe and a long range Micheál Kelly free saw them lead four points to three.
It was all undone seven minutes into the second quarters as Tooreen found the net twice and led by five at half-time. 2-8 to nine points.
Four Roads battled in the second-half, but were only able to manage five points. In the end they were no match for Tooreen who ran out 15 point winners, 2-23 to 0-14.
