Four Roads stage late comeback to make it three-in-a-row

Four Roads came back from behind to land the Roscommon hurling championship after a four point win over St. Dominic’s.

Man-of-the-match Conor Morris scored 2-5 as Four Roads threw-in a late surge to land a third county title-in-a-row.

St. Dominic’s were appearing in their first final in 25-years and Mickey Joe Egan found the Four Roads net after three minutes. Indeed, Egan found the net for a second time on 21 minutes.

A deflected goal from Brian Mannion a minute before half-time got Four Roads back into the game. Dominic’s led 2-8 to 1-3 at half-time.

However, the defending champions were far from beaten making it a five point game with 15 minutes remaining.

Indeed, Morris landed his second goal of the game, six minutes from time, making it a two point game.

An Adam Donnelly point and a Morris’s ‘65’ levelled the game with three minutes remaining. Donnelly struck an injury-time goal to help seal the title for Four Roads, 3-12 to 2-17.
