Longford captain Paddy Fox was especially proud of his teammates after their late show draw with Limerick.
Matthew Carey capped a debut with a last gasp two-point equaliser to see Longford open Allianz League division four with a 2-12 to 1-15 draw.
“I was just delighted with that, we showed great resolve in the team” explained Fox. “We easily could have thrown in the town in the second-half when things were going against us”.
A ”Wet day, dirty wind. A lot of them, Limerick boys would have played in division two” added Fox. “Mattie Carey on his debut, stepping up nailing the free. I’m just super proud of the lads”.
“Obviously you would like to win the game. Last year losing to Laois in the first round was probably our downfall in not getting promoted”.
“Today we got a draw out of it and hopefully we can build for next week”. Longford travel to Semple Stadium to face Tipperary on Saturday at 5pm.
