The Rule changes will be brought in at intercounty and club level

Former All-Ireland final referee Marty Duffy thinks the new rules should have been trialled for a year at inter-county level before being introduced in the club game. The changes from the Football Review Committee are set to effect in club games from March. Duffy feels that referees are currently better equipped at inter-county level to enforce the new rules:

One of the last opportunities to see the current rules of the game will be in Croke Park this Sunday as Errigal Ciaran and Cuala prepare to meet in the All Ireland senior club football final. The intercounty season gets underway a week later with the new rules as the opening rounds of the National league throw in. Ballinamore will be the first venue to host a competitive game to feature the changes as Leitrim take on Laois in Division 3 of the league on Saturday the 25th at 2:30pm
