Galway scored a two point win

Galway setup an All-Ireland final meeting with Armagh after scoring a two point victory over Donegal.

The tribesmen scored a 1-14 to 15-point victory in Croke Park as they go in search of their first All-Ireland title since 2001.

Paul Conroy’s shock 24th minute goal, nudged Padraig Joyce’s head clear as Galway withheld a Donegal fightback to win out.

The sides where level at five points each when the goal arrived. Conroy’s shot from outside the D, fell short. Matthew Tierney missed the dropping ball, but the bounce deceived Shaun Patton into the net.

Indeed, Donegal recovered well with points from Paddy McBrearty, Ciaran Thompson (mark) and Oisin Gallen. Michael Langan’s effort made it all square.

Conroy nudged the Tribesmen in front again, but Langan’s third point made it 1-7 to 0-10 at half-time.

The sides grappled trough-out the second-half, going point for point in a might tussle.

A Rob Finnerty free put Galway 1-13 to 0-15 with five minutes of normal time remaining. However, Jim McGuinness’s men failed to convert a number of chances to level-up the game.

Liam Silke’s fine score on 70 minutes ensured victory for Galway and a return to the All-Ireland final against Armagh on July 28th.
