Galway United advanced to the SSE Airtricity first division play-off final after a 3-0 victory over Longford Town.
Galway will face Waterford in next Friday’s play-off after beating Longford 5-2 on aggregate.
David Hurley opened the scoring on 25 minutes. Hurley’s deflected shot deceiving Luke Dennison. Town never created a first-half opening.
Town improved in the second-half Jordan Adeyemo coming close to test the Galway keeper Conor Kearns. Galway sealed victory in the 89th minute, Mikie Rowe converting a Stephen Walsh pull back to make it 2-0.
The hosts added a third deep into injury-time Charlie Lyons found space and played the ball for Rob Manley to tap into the net.
Galway will face Waterford next Friday night with the winner facing UCD for a place in the 2023 premier division. Longford Town will face another year in the first division.
