Ger O'Donnell claims national 110m hurdlers title

Ger O’Donnell claimed his sixth national 110m hurdles championship at the 123.ie national track and field championships in Dublin.

O’Donnell clocked 14.20 seconds for victory on a bad day for hurdling in Morton Stadium, Santry. O’Donnell had 1.37 seconds to spare on Adam Nolan of St. Laurence O’Toole in second place.

2022 champion Matthew Behan of Crusaders came home in third place posting 14.90 seconds.

Elsewhere, there was good performances from athletes across the region. In the women’s 1500m, Longford’s Fiona Gettings took seventh place in 4:36.53. While Robin Og Murphy finished eighth in the 5,000m walk in 26:31.12. The race was won by Kate Veale in 21:57.42.

Another Longford athlete Adeyemi Talabi qualified for the 200m final posting 24.85 seconds in heat two. However, Talabi did not finish the final.

Talabi In the men’s 200 metres, Longford’s Aaron Kelly missed out on a place in the final, finishing fourth in his heat in 24.11 seconds.
