Glen will face St. Brigid’s in the All-Ireland club final after edging Kilmacud Crokes at a fog-engulfed Pairc Esler.
Glen edged some revenge on the defending champions as they scored a 1-14 to 2-10 victory. The Derry side will face the Roscommon champions on Sunday January 21st.
Glen threatened to run away with the game, leading eight points to four at half-time. The fog making it difficult for spectators to follow the white ball.
The Derry champions were six points clear with a quarter of the game remaining, but then came the Dublin side’s response.
Points from Paul Mannion and Cian O’Connor brought Crokes back to life. Hugh Kenny hammered in a close-range goal they looked the more likely side with five minutes remaining.
Goalkeeper David Higgins came forward to drive over a terrific equaliser. While, Conleth McGuickian earned a free at the other end, which Emmett Bradley stroked over stemmed the tide for Glen.
Three minutes later the ball was in the Crokes net. A lapse out in their defence saw Ethan Doherty chase possession and roll the ball into the back of an empty net.
Incredibly, Shane Walsh’s effort for a point dropped into the Glen making it a one point game, but it was not enough. Glen booked their return to the All-Ireland final.
