Longford's concession of the Division 3 league fixture with Cork this weekend has been accepted by Croke Park.
Padraic Davis had called into question the need to bring Cork up to Glennon Brothers Pearse Park for the final league encounter, as the Rebels had already gained promotion and Longford's loss to Derry last weekend had effectively ended any hope they had of moving up.
The game was been described as a "Dead Rubber", but will come as an advantage to Down, who will now gain promotion to Division 2 as they currently hold 2nd spot in the table. The Mourne men are due to face Louth this weekend and know that even a loss to the wee county will see them move up as a win for Derry against Offaly, would put the sides equal on points with Down progressing on the head to head rule.
Last weekend seen Leitrim, conceded to Down in the same Division as they stated they had not enough players available to field.
