Gortletteragh were convincing winners over Annaduff in today’s Smith Monumentals intermediate football championship final at Avant Money Pairc Sean MacDiarmada.
Paul McGuire’s side led 2-5 to 1-6 at half-time before a dominant second half display saw them win 4-12 to 1-10.
A ninth minute goal from Jack Heslin saw Gortletteragh lead by four points but Anaduff led at the first water break after hitting 1-2 without reply, Ray Cox finding the net on 16 minutes.
Six minutes later Ray Cox stretched Anaduff’s lead to two points but his team would fail to score for the remainder of the half.
Gortletteragh replied by scoring 1-1 as Jack Heslin’s goal on 25 minutes helped them to a two-point buffer at half-time.
Gortletteragh out-scored Annaduff 2-3 to 0-1 in the third quarter as goals from Padraic Gallagher and Jack Heslin helped them to a ten-point lead at the second water break.
11 minutes later Sean McNabola reduced the margin to nine points but the margin didn’t get any smaller during the remainder of the contest.
Two Padraig Gallagher points along with one from Gerard Campbell sealed victory for Paul McGuire’s men who can now look forward to senior football.
