Longford Town boss Stephen Henderson believes his sides are on the right track ahead of Friday night’s El Classico.
Town won three and drew one of their five matches in May and find themselves just two points off the play-off places.
“This series of games we’ve been exceptional” declared boss Stephen Henderson. “Were in a good frame of mind.”
“What we’re doing here, it’s tough but it’s brilliant” explained Henderson. The “younger players are getting fitter and stronger.”
Athlone won the season’s first El Classico 3-1 on the opening night. A result that Henderson want’s to overturn for the Longford faithful.
While Athlone Town registered just one win in May, away to Finn Harps. Whereas, defeat to Galway United, Kerry and Treaty United was tempered by a draw with Cobh Ramblers.
“There a good Athlone Town team” declared Henderson. ”They done us down here and it hurt, it hurt badly so we owe our supporters something for that!”
Elsewhere in the first division leaders Galway United travel to Bray Wanderers, Finn Harps host Kerry, Wexford host Cobh. Waterford host Treaty United having drawn with Longford town last week.
