Terry Hyland is expecting a typical performance from Mickey Harte’s side when Louth travel to Carrick-on-Shannon on Sunday.
Harte’s new look Louth team fell to Antrim 1-15 to 3-8 on the opening weekend of the Allianz league, but it was three final scores which sealed a one point win for the orchard county.
“I saw their game with Antrim and they set themselves up very, very defensively and hit Antrim on the break, they play Tyrone esch” explained Hyland.
Their very fit, they have Paddy Mulryan who is probably the best forward in the country so we really have to deal with it” added Hyland.
“They were leading heading to injury time, they were touching the finishing line and didn’t get over it, I can’t see them changing much”.
“It’s how we combat the defensive line and how fast we get in behind their defensive setup which is the key to me for this weekend” declared Hyland.
Leitrim go into their second Allianz league game of the year needing a victory, having fallen over the line against Sligo last Sunday.
A strong first half performance where they led 12 points to 11 was undone with the sending off of Aidan Flynn as Leitrim lost out 2-19 to 0-18.
“To be fair the guys were hurting last Sunday” explained Hyland who reports the suspended Flynn is the only player missing from duty.
“They felt we have the opportunity to win, we all felt, that first game in a three game league is important because you can’t really slip up. So we all have to stand up and be counted now!”
