Monaghan's Gabriel Bannigan pre-season tournaments are going to be a loss

Newly installed Monaghan manager Gabriel Bannigan has questioned the decision to drop the pre-season tournaments.

Often seen as competitions to give managers a chance to try out new players and give game time to those on extended panels.

Whereas, Bannigan highlighted; as the GAA are believed set to introduce a number of new playing rules. The opportunity to work with those in a competitive environment has been taken away.

Meanwhile, Kieran McGeeney is to remain in charge of the Armagh footballers. The All-Ireland winning manager will take charge of the Orchard County for an 11th season after being unanimously supported by delegates at Tuesday night's county committee meeting.

Indeed, Kieran Donaghy, Ciaran McKeever and Conleith Gilligan will remain as part of McGeeney's backroom team.
