Team Ireland rowers Philip Doyle and Daire Lynch progressed to the men’s double sculls semi-finals.
The duo won their heat comfortably in a time of 6:13.24, the fastest recorded in this morning’s heats.
Doyle and Lynch had almost three seconds to spare over second-placed Spain. The semi-finals will take place on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, it was a similar story for the women's double sculls crew of Zoe Hyde and Alison Bergin.
The pair overhauled Lithuania and finished third in their heat posting a time of 6:52.61. France finished in first place with Australia claiming second place.
Hyde and Begin can now look forward to the semi-finals this coming Tuesday.
Defending Olympic champions Paul O’Donovan and Fintan McCarthy will open their campaign in the lightweight double sculls heats tomorrow.
