Ireland manager Stephen Kenny has called-up forward Sammie Szmodics for the upcoming UEFA EURO 2024 qualifiers against Greece and Gibraltar.
Szmodics, has scored seven goals in the Championship this season for Blackburn Rovers. While Szmodics comes into the squad to replace Aaron Connolly.
Connolly has been ruled out through injury. Thus won't report for the two matches with Ireland set to host Greece on Friday, October 13. Ireland then travel to Faro, Portugal to face Gibraltar on Monday, October 16.
Whereas, Szmodics qualifies for Ireland through his grandmother who was born in Granard, Co. Longford.
Meanwhile, the rest of the squad has reported for international duty today before training preparations begin tomorrow at the FAI National Training Centre ahead of Friday's qualifier.
