The Roscommon ladies footballers got off to a bad start in the TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Intermediate Championship losing 1-11 to 1-7 to Kildare in Ballinasloe.
Roscommon held a one-point lead at the first water break after a goal from Laura Fleming made it 1-2 to 0-4.
Kildare put up an improved showing in the second quarter and a penalty goal by Neasa Dooley saw the Lilywhites lead 1-7 to 1-6 at half-time.
The third quarter was a low-scoring affair as Kildare stretched their lead to two points at the second water break.
Roscommon would fail to score thereafter and lost by 4 points in the end.
