It was another tough day for Leitrim in Ballinamore as Kildare ran out comfortable winners.
Kildare were the visitors to Páirc Seán Uí Eslín in round three of the Allianz Football League division 3 and they were heavy favourites going into this encounter.
Cathal Hagney and Alex Beirne had Kildare two points up after four minutes of play and the foundation was set for a dominant display from the away side.
A lapse in concentration at the back allowed Beirne to score Kildare’s only goal of the game on 24 minutes.
Tom Prior opened Leitrim’s account for the day but his side remained 19 points behind at the break.
Prior and Sean Harkin did give Leitrim more joy going forward in the second-half. However, Kildare stayed clinical themselves with Brian McLaughlin and Paul Honeyman converting two-pointer scores.
Kildare had too much for Leitrim as they ran out with a 23 point win. Kildare securing a 1-27 to seven point victory.
