Killoe reached the Longford senior football quarter-finals following a 1-18 to 3-9 victory over Longford Slashers at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.
Slashers started impressively and led 1-4 to 0-4 on 25 minutes. Ronan Sheahan with the game’s opening goal eight minutes in.
Killoe eventually settled. Three of the next four scores saw Luke Dempsey’s men make it a one-point game at the break; 1-5 to 0-7.
Ronan McGoldrick gave Killoe a three-point cushion 11 minutes into the second half. Two minutes later, Daire O’Brien found the net and suddenly parity was restored.
Killoe subsequently found another gear. Cian Dooner’s goal two minutes from time saw them move seven points clear.
Daire O’Brien replied with one for Slashers five minutes into injury time but his side still fell short in the end.
