Wicklow won out by seven points

Leitrim bowed out of the Tailteann Cup after a seven point defeat to Wicklow in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.

Wicklow scored a 2-15 to 1-11 victory as JP Nolan and Chris O’Brien found the crucial goals to dump Andy Moran’s side out.

Leitrim stared well, playing with the wind in the first half and were well on top. Leading 1-7 to 1-4 at half-time.

Barry McNulty’s goal steered Leitrim towards a 1-6 to four point lead seven minutes before the break.

However, Wicklow responded expertly with a JP Nolan goal three minutes later. The goal would see Wicklow trail by just three at the break.

Wicklow responded sharp with the win in the second half. Kevin Quinn points saw Wicklow level within six minutes of the resumption. A palmed goal from O’Brien surged them in front.
