Leitrim tasted defeat for the first time this season as Wexford scored a 19 points to 15 win in Wexford Park.
Wexford’s Mark Rossiter was in great form kicking eight points including five frees and one mark.
Rossiter opening the scoring with two points inside 90 seconds. Keith Beirne levelled the game with two inside the opening five.
Kevin O’Grady restored Wexford’s lead before Beirne equalised.
Wexford moved up a gear though. Rossiter sent over two frees and Ben Brosnan mark made it six points to three on 25 minutes.
Wexford added two before Evan Sweeney inspired Leitrim’s comeback
Mark Rossiter also threatened the Leitrim net on 28 minutes from a Seán Nolan assist, while Evan Sweeney and Wexford 'keeper Darragh Brooks (free) traded points.
Sweeney, Pearce Dolan and Beirne made it eight points to seven at half-time.
Two dead ball finishes from Rossiter helped moved Wexford 10 points to seven clear on 40 minutes, Keith Beirne sent over four points.
It looked as though Leitrim would close out the score line, Wexford leading 12 to 10, Wexford responded.
Tom Prior and Keith Beirne restored parity for a sixth time after 64 minutes at 14 points, Wexford powered home for victory.
Niall Hughes, Rossiter (two), full-back Brian Molloy and substitute Cian Hughes sealing the 19 points to 15 win.
