Glencar Manorhamiliton 0-16 Leitrim Gaels 3-10 (19)
Leitrim Gaels surprised Glencar Manorhamiliton with a three-goal salvo to win this opening senior championship game.
The hosts were slower out of the blocks but led seven points to six at half-time. The game turned six minutes into the second-half.
Manor had moved three points clear when they awarded a penalty. However it wasn’t converted and within a minute the game was level.
Stephen Goldrick was brought down in the box and converted his penalty to make it a level game.
The water break only spurned the gaels on and Sean Chandler raced through the manor defence to get the village sides second goal.
Goldrick struck again with a goal six minutes later, putting Leitrim Gaels out of sight.
The referee played a remarkable eight minutes of injury time but Manor could claw it back even missing a sitter right at the end.
St Marys Kiltoghert 0-9 Mohill 1-14
This was billed as a rematch of the league decider but this was far more convincing by Mohill.
Mohill led by five points at half-time 1-9 to seven points. Ronan Gordon’s goal on 15 minutes sucking the life from St. Mary’s.
Mary’s did fight back in the second half, but Keith Beirne added two frees and a point from play as Mohill won out 1-14 to nine points.
