Leitrim claimed promotion to Allianz league division three after a dramatic final day.
Leitirm put Tipperary away 15 points to nine at Avantmoney Paric Sean MacDiarmada in Carrick-on-Shannon. However, Wexford crushed Longford meaning Leitrim progress on head-to-head.
However, Andy Moran’ side didn’t have it all their own way. Tipperary bossing the early stages of the game. Three Darragh Rooney points (2f) had Leitirm three to no score clear after 12 minutes.
Jack Kennedy opened the Tipperary account with a 16th minute mark. Points from Evan Comeford and Conall Kennedy levelled matters.
A Paddy Creedon point on 24 minutes put Tipperary ahead for the first and only time in the game.
Darragh Rooney and Jack Kennedy swapping a point each. As did Rooney (free) and Shane Neville. Rooney pushed the hosts ahead with a free as the hosts led six points to seven at half-time.
Leitrim moved four points clear after the restart. Two Ryan O'Rourke points either side of a Rooney free saw the hosts lead by four after 46 minutes. Jack Kennedy opened Tipperary's second-half in the 47th minute.
Ryan O'Rourke and Kennedy traded points as the game entered its final quarter. Tipp sub Mark Russell and Tom Prior exchanged points as the game entered its final stages.
Ryan O'Rourke converted a 54th minute free as Leitrim pulled clear. Kennedy tapped over a Tipperary free but Leitrim finished strongly with Ryan O'Rourke adding a point from play and a free.
The final whistle was greeted with great celebrations as Longford lost to Wexford, meaning Leitrim take second spot in division four on head-to-head.
Leitrim will face Laois in the Allianz League division four on Saturday in Croke Park.
