Rian Delaney’s last-gasp point saw Cavan defeat Leitrim to win the Allianz hurling league division 3B title at Abbotstown.
The Breffni men led 0-11 to 0-8 at half-time and held off a late rally from Leitrim to win 0-17 to 0-16.
The opening stages were evenly contested and Cavan led by a solitary point 13 minutes in. 17 minutes later Nicholas Kenny pushed them four points clear.
Leitrim’s Gavin O’Hagan and David McGovern subsequently landed a point each. Canice Maher’s point on 33 minutes gave Cavan a three-point lead at the break
Maher gave Cavan to a four-point cushion on 55 minutes but the Breffni men failed to score for another 20 minutes.
Leitrim capitalised and points from Gavin O’Hagan (two) Joe Murray, Michael Dervan saw parity restored four minutes into injury time.
Extra time appeared to be on the cards until Delaney won it for the Breffni men in dramatic fashion.
