Leitrim defeated Roscommon to reach the TG4 All-Ireland intermediate ladies football semi-finals following a thrilling contest at Ballinamore.
Leitrim led by two points at the break and held on to win by the same margin; 3-13 to 3-11.
The opening stages were evenly contested with the sides trading three points each inside the opening 12 minutes.
Michelle Guckian (two) and Ailbhe Clancy on target for the hosts while Aimee O’Connor, Laura Fleming and Aisling Hanly landed a point each for the Rossies.
Roscommon led by a point on 19 minutes when Hanly found the net. Three minutes later Laura O’Dowd restored parity.
Muireann Devaney gave Leitrim a three-point lead on the half-hour mark. Aimee O’Connor replied with a pointed free on the stroke of half-time where Roscommon trailed 1-7 to 1-5.
Hanly added her second goal seven minutes into the second half as the Rossies got their noses in front. Six minutes later, Laura O’Dowd replied with one for Leitrim as the hosts moved back into a two-point lead.
Aimee O’Connor registered Roscommon’s third goal on 47 minutes but Leah Fox replied three minutes later as Leitrim reclaimed a two-point lead.
The sides cancelled each other out thereafter as the hosts held on for a narrow victory.
