Sligo are through to the semi-final stage of the FBD League. Niall Murphy scored 1-10 as the Yeats County beat Leitrim by 1-21 to 1-17 at Connacht GAA's indoor dome last night. It was an historic encounter for the association as it was the first time an intercounty competitive game was played under a roof. While disappointed with the result , Leitrim manager Andy Moran acknowledged the sense of occassion surrounding the fixture
Sligo will now play Roscommon at the same venue on Saturday, with Galway set to meet Mayo on the other side of the draw on Friday. Meanwhile, Pat Spillane Junior could be poised to join the Sligo senior football panel. The Kerry native - who is a son of the eight-time All-Ireland winner of the same name - starred for St Jude's in the Dublin championship last year. He qualifies to represent Sligo through his mother, Rosarii, who is a native of the Yeats County.
