Leitrim and Longford missed out a place in the Lory Meagher cup final on the final day.
Longford went into their meeting with Monaghan looking to book a place in the final. Monaghan, Longford and Cavan were all tied on three points.
However, it was Monaghan who reached the final after winning 2-16 to 0-17 at the Monaghan GAA centre of excellence.
Monaghan led 2-8 to 0-11 at half-time. Ethan Flynn and Thomas Hughes with a goal each for the hosts.
Longford made it a one-point game ten minutes into the second-half. Niall Arthur restored Monaghan’s four-point cushion four minutes from time.
The hosts subsequently landed two of the last three scores resulting in a six-point victory in the end.
The result sees Monaghan top the group table and will play Lancashire in the final after they scored a 5-13 to 3-17 win over Warwickshire.
Leitrim faced league leaders Cavan in Kingspan Breffni and scored a surprise 2-19 to 2-18 victory.
The game was a tight affair throughout. Cavan led by the smallest of margins at half-time, 2-8 to 2-7. Gavin O’Hagan gave Leitrim a five-point cushion on the hour mark before Diarmuid Carney restored parity one minute into injury time.
A Cavan winner would have taken them into the final, but it was the visitors who grabbed the last score to claim just their second win of the campaign.
Cavan, Longford and Leitrim all finished tied on five points with score difference positing the teams into third, fourth and fifth. Monaghan will face Lancashire in the Lory Meagher cup final.
