Longford and Leitrim opened their Allianz hurling league division 3B campaign’s with draws against English opposition.
Lancashire hosted Longford in Abbotstown with Longford coming back to draw 1-9 to 12 points. Longford led 1-4 to 0-5 at half-time, Rueben Murray with 1-3 for Longford.
Longford led for the majority of the game, but need to come back in injury time to claim a 1-9 to 12 point draw.
“I think both teams would be happy enough this morning to come out with a draw” said Longford manager Adrian Moran.
“Obviously, you came here to win and there is that air of disappointment with a draw. But look, we just move on”.
“We did some very good things in the game. We are feeling that that was very, very good from our back line. Our back line were good and steady throughout. But a major factor is we hadn't scored, I think, for 16 or 17 minutes in the first-half”.
“I think both teams went nearly 17 minutes out of the score” declared Moran. “And look, clinically we just weren't good enough today. Our decision making was poor” added Moran.
Meanwhile, Leitrim came away from Birmingham with a 1-17 to 20-point draw with Warwickshire. Jack Grealish late point sealing a draw for the English side.
