The opening round of the football club championship in Longford got underway over the Bank Holiday weekend. Notable the defending champions Mullinalaghta were held to a draw by Mostrim in what was a repeat of last years county final. The St Columba's side were favourites to win their opening fixture and looked on course for that when they led by 5 points, however a strong 2nd half seen Mostrim draw level deep into injury time to ensure a share of the spoils.
