Aaron Farrell found the net twice as Longford picked up first league win of campaign.
However it was a hard fought victory of Mike Solan’s side. The only two sides without a win in the Allianz League’s division four. The stakes were high as Longford and Waterford faced off in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.
It looked to be a bright start for Mike Solan’s side. Indeed, points from Jack Macken, Daniel Reynolds and Jayson Matthews seen Longford fly out of the blocks.
However, that early hard work was undone by a Jason Currie goal after just six minutes of play.
Matthew Carey put Longford back in front before Aaron Farrell finished off a good Longford move to bury his first goal of the day.
Farrell didn’t have to wait long for his second, as barely two minutes later some good work from Carey again set Farrell up for another goal to set Longford on their way.
However three two pointers in a row had Waterford well in the game going into the half time interval.
A second-half Ryan Moffett black card left Longford under pressure as Waterford lead by one going into the closing stages.
Matthew Carey stuck over a two pointer free while Daniel Reynolds sealed the victory in the closing stages of stoppage time.
Longford wining out 2-11 to 1-12.
