Longford county board recorded a surplus of €202,000 for their convention of 2021.
The convention took place virtually for the second year in a row with Club Longford fund raising €220,000 for the year driving the county board to surplus.
Club Longford was launched in 2019, having been disrupted by the covid-19 pandemic saw their 2020 events curtailed.
A draw for a car and the hosting of a golf classic rose funds of €220,000. This resulted in the county board turning a €173,000 loss in 2020 to a €202,000 profit.
Chairman Albert Cooney told delegates this fundraising would allow a new project begin to recruit a paid strength and conditioning coach for Longford GAA underage teams.
Two changes to the county executive saw Derek Fahey appointed as new county vice-chairman and Gerry Forde appointed PRO.
Elsewhere the most notable motion was a request to change the minor grade back to under-18 from under-17. This motion heard no opposing views and is in line with motion across the country.
The final act of the convention saw the new senior football management team led by Billy O’Loughlin ratified for 2021.
