Longford hurlers destroyed Louth in the opening match of the Lory Meagher winning out 8-24 to 3-19.
Goals from Cathal Mullane, David Buckley, a Rueben Murray hat-trick and an own goal saw Longford lead by 11 points at half-time 6-9 to 1-13.
While Louth rallied early in the second-half, goals from Stephen Creaven and Joe O’Brien killed off any attempted comeback as Longford ran out 20 point winners.

Longford will face a far stern task when they travel to Monaghan in two week’s time.
