The Longford hurlers now have two wins on the trot after beating Louth 1-15 to 1-14 in the Lory Meagher cup third round at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.
A tight game looked ominous from the outset with the sides tied at four points each on 13 minutes before Louth raised their game and led 0-9 to 0-7 at the break.
Longford moved four points clear with 17 minutes remaining when Reuben Murray found the net before Darren Geoghegan replied with one for Louth 14 minutes later.
Paddy Lynam and Joe O’Brien added a point each for Longford before Geoghegan made it a one-point game deep into injury time but Louth couldn’t find an equaliser.
