Longford suffered a second defeat in division 3A of the Allianz Hurling League after losing 5-23 to 2-19 to Sligo at Markievicz Park.
The result was never in doubt as the hosts led 2-14 to seven points at the interval.
There was a frantic start to the second half with both sides scoring a goal each inside the first five minutes.
Martin Coyle found the net for Longford only for it to be cancelled out four minutes later.
John Mulhearn bagged the Midlanders second goal in the 45th minute but there was little else for Longford to shout about as they lost by 13 points.
