Longford hurlers miss out on Lory Meagher Cup

A late rally wasn't enough as Longford fell short.

Longford missed out on a Lory Meagher cup title following a 3-22 to 2-20 defeat to Fermanagh in the decider at Croke Park.

Fermanagh led 1-14 to 0-8 at the break. Brian Teehan registered the opening goal on 16 minutes while Cian Darcy scored three first-half points for Longford.

The Ulster outfit moved 11 points clear within seconds of the restart, Danann McKeogh found the net making it 2-14 to 0-9.

David Buckley registered Longford's first goal on 47 minutes. Eight minutes later Teehan replied with one for Fermanagh making it a ten-point game.

Joe Rabbit bagged Longford's second goal on 59 minutes. Cian Darcy made it a three-point game 60 seconds from time before a strong finish saw Fermanagh claim a five-point victory
