The Longford ladies footballers opened their All-Ireland IFC campaign with a 3-9 to 1-9 victory over Kildare at St Conleth’s Park in Newbridge.
Longford dominated the opening half and led 1-8 to 1-3 at the half-time break; Clodagh Lohan found the net for the visitors on 21 minutes.
Lohan scored Longford’s second goal on 39 minutes and six minutes later, Michelle Farrell added another one which made it a ten-point game.
Kildare replied with four unanswered points but it wasn’t enough for them as Longford ran out six-point winners.
