Longford endured a difficult afternoon in Mullahoran losing 9-9 to 2-6 against Westmeath in the opening round of the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Ladies Championship.
Longford left themselves with too much work to do in the second half having trailed 5-4 to 1-4 at the break.
Michelle Farrell scored the Longford goal in the closing stages of the first half while three of the five Westmeath goals came from the penalty spot.
Grace Shannon found the net in the second half but this was as good as it got from a Longford perspective
