The Longford ladies have been relegated to the All-Ireland junior football championship following a 4-5 to 1-8 defeat at the hands of Offaly at Kinnegad.
Offaly made a blistering start leading 2-1 to 0-1 seven minutes in. Amy Gavin Mangan and Roisin Cockram scored a goal each.
Longford responded well and seven minutes later, Grace Shannon’s second point left three between the teams.
Emily Bailey registered Offaly’s third goal on 18 minutes helping the Faithful county lead 3-4 to 0-5 at half-time.

Offaly’s Emma Hand added another goal three minutes after the restart. Longford’s Mairead Reynolds found the net within eight minutes but her side still trailed by nine points.
Longford followed up with three unanswered points but still fell short in the end.
