Roscommon opened their ladies division three campaign by beating Down 0-11 to 0-4 at Woodmount. Clare and Louth also tasted victory while Offaly and Sligo shared the spoils.
Limerick also emerged victorious while Carlow and Fermanagh drew.
In division one, there were victories for Kerry, Armagh, Cork and Meath as the top flight campaign got underway.
On Saturday evening, Kerry ousted Dublin by 1-8 to 0-6 at Parnell Park. As the reigning league champions defeated the All-Ireland winners. Emma Dineen struck 1-3 for Kerry.
On Sunday, Katie Quirke ensured Cork were successful at Bishopstown. Quirke scored their entire total in a 1-6 to 0-5 triumph over Galway.
Meanwhile, most of the scores came in the opening half in Crossmaglen where Armagh beat Waterford 2-8 to 2-3. Goals from Aimee Macken and Aoife McCoy pushed Armagh 2-6 to 2-0 in front at the break.
Both teams managed just five points between them in the second-half, in the deteriorating wind and rainy conditions.
Whereas, Mayo and Meath didn’t have to contend with the storm as their clash was switched from Ballina to the University of Galway GAA Air Dome in Bekan.
Cavan opened their Lidl ladies football league division two campaign with a 1-4 to 0-2 defeat to Tipperary at Lacken GAA grounds.
Meanwhile, Monaghan got off to a losing start in division three. The Farney women suffered a 1-6 to 0-5 defeat to Kildare at Manguard Park.
Elsewhere in the second tier, there were victories for Tyrone and Donegal.
