The Longford minor footballers got off to a winning start in the Leinster championship beating Meath 1-11 to 1-10 at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.
The sides traded four points each during the opening 20 minutes before Paddy Moran’s penalty goal in first-half stoppage time saw the hosts lead 1-7 to 0-5 at the break.
Matthew Carey opened Longford’s second-half account five minutes after the interval before Meath hit a purple patch and grabbed the next three scores.
Cian Commons found the net on 37 minutes before a brace of points saw the visitors level the game with eight minutes remaining.
Meath subsequently took the lead with four minutes remaining before points from Michael Flynn and Michael Carey sealed victory for Longford.
