Longford moved closer to the Lory Meagher cup final after beating Monahan 2-15 to 1-16 in Inniskeen.
Longford led 2-6 to eight points at half-time. Goals from Reuben Murray and Cathal Mullane moving Longford into the driving seat.
Monaghan pulled the game leave 12 minutes into the second-half, thanks in part to a Mark Treanor goal.
However Longford weren’t to be stopped and points from Paddy Lynam (0-2 1f), Emmet Corrigan 0-2, Mullane 0-2 and Joe O’Brien 0-3 saw Longford to victory.
