This one is an acid test for Billy O’Loughlin and Longford after a disappointing defeat to Limerick last Saturday.
On any given Sunday, Longford would expect to topple Louth, but Louth under Mickey Harte is a tough prospect.
Harte’s mantel piece has three all-Ireland medals, six ulster titles a national league medal and a shared division four winners medal. O’Loughlin is the new kid on the block.
Longford’s defensive frailties were punished by Limerick. O’Loughlin admitted positional changes were incorrect.
Louth will make Longford pay for any shortcomings on Sunday. It may be a long season for O’Loughlin’s men. Sunday will tell us a lot more.
