Senior Men and Ladies Teams

Our senior men lost at home to the Sligo All-Stars by 93-67 in the LLR League but then bounced straight back with a narrow five-point road win against Edenderry in the Midlands League.

Phoenix got off to a blistering start with a 30-point haul in the first quarter and this was just about enough to see them home. Edenderry fought back only to run out of time, as Phoenix held on to win by 89-84.

Under 18 Boys & Girls

In the Midlands League, an understrength U18 Girls team travelled to Portlaoise, although it was a close contest at half-time. Phoenix intense defence wilted especially in the final quarter and Portlaoise were winners on a score-line of 72-38.

The Girls bounced back from that loss with a hard fought five-point triumph over Larrie Birds of Kilcullen. At the Mall in another Midlands League game, the girls won out 52-47.

There was also action for our boys U18 team who travelled to Portarlington on Sunday afternoon for a Midlands League encounter against the Kestrels.

It was a very exciting contest that was close throughout. Despite racing into an early first-quarter lead, Kestrels won the other three quarters to edge home by 37-33.

Under 16 Boys & Girls

Our U16 Girls recorded a comfortable home win in the Mall over Boyle in their LLR clash. Phoenix winning out 56-27. Their scheduled game at home to Laois side Clonaslee did not go ahead.

Our U16 Boys teams had mixed results against Mohill in the LLR. Phoenix Green beat the Mohill Hotshots by 69-32, but Phoenix Grey lost to the Mohill Rebels by seven points with the Leitrim side winning by 41-34.

Phoenix Green played two more games since their Mohill victory. They continued their excellent LLR League form with a comprehensive 76-27 win over Ballinamore Amber, and then in the Midlands League they had a close and tough encounter against the North Kildare Eagles, but a strong finish helped Phoenix to come out on top by 58-47.
