U-18 Girls Crowned Midlands League Champions
Our U18 Girls won their last two matches to win the league. On Friday, they won away to the Kildare Eagles in Maynooth by 53-42.
On Sunday they faced another away trip, this time to Portarlington to take on the Kestrels.
In a brilliant comeback; recovering from 10 points down in the third-quarter to trail by five going into the final-quarter.
Holding their opponents to just two points in that final quarter; Phoenix knocked down 10 points to win by three points and lift the Midlands league title.
U-16 Boys
Phoenix Green put in an excellent display on Sunday, overcoming the challenge of Boyle by 42-21 in the LLR.
A strong first-half resulted in Phoenix surging to a 20-point lead and that laid the foundation for the victory.
With just three games remaining in the league, the team are still in contention for a top four spot.
On Saturday, Phoenix White earned a well-deserved victory over the Portlaoise Panthers in the Midlands league division one.
Portlaoise hit the front leading by 19-9 after 13 minutes. However, Phoenix hit back with a 14-2 run to lead at half time by two points.
Phoenix were two up with three minutes remaining. Two good offenses combined with six quick points on the fast break, saw off Portlaoise Panthers by 53-42. The first defeat of the season for the Laois side.
U-16 Girls
Phoenix went down to Clonaslee by three points in the Midlands League on Sunday afternoon.
Longford U-14 Boys
Phoenix travelled to Mohill and won their LLR clash by 32-17.

John O’Meara and Nathan Branigan of our Inclusion Team were up in Leinster House this week to meet the Tanaiste Micheal Martin to help him ‘Rock his socks’ in support of World Down Syndrome Day.
